The cottage is situated on a 600-acre working dairy farm milking a Stud Jersey herd (established in 1947) of 200 cows twice daily. Guests are invited to visit the dairy - milking takes place from about 05H00 to 07H30 and again from 15H00 to 16H30 every day.

Visitors are welcome to amble on the farm, through its avenues of trees, or its breathtaking panoramic views from "The Hill" . To locate the boundaries consult the map on the wall in the kitchen. The farm and its surroundings offer a wealth of beauty with delightful pockets of Natural bush which are home to numerous species of wildlife including duiker, oribi and reedbuck.

Birds, many of which are endemic to the area. Raptors such as the Long Crested Eagle, Black Shouldered Kite Gymnogene and others are common residents in the area and are often seen keenly looking for their next meal from the vantage point on a telephone or electricity pole. The farm falls within a Conservancy area and the numbers of species are counted and monitored on a regular basis.

Budding and proficient fisherman have the opportunity of testing their skills in two dams one of which is stocked with rainbow trout and the other with bass and grass carp. See tariff section for rates.

There are spectacular views of the Drakensberg (Giant's Castle) as well as the large tract of Natural bush (Lion's Bush).
